The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is a legally mandated group formed to focus and advise on issues which affect our children in special education, SELPA-wide.  The members are primarily parents of children with disabilities.  Parent committee members are appointed by their school district of residence. Membership includes representative from public and private agencies concerned with individuals with exceptional needs, as well as teachers from different special education programs.



The function of the CAC is:

  • Provide parent education and support through workshops, seminars, informational meetings, etc.
  • Promote community awareness and educate the public about individuals with special needs.
  • Enhance the channels of communication between schools, parents, and related agencies.
  • Encourage meaningful communication among school administrators. the Boards of Education, parents, and communities.
